“We would spend the night. But everything was fun and just like ‘getting to know you’. It was like building a relationship, a very solid relationship, on trust, on fun, on friendship, on companionship. In the back of our minds, it was like, ‘If there is going to be somebody, it’s probably going to be you’—something like that. The serious nature of it was on a layer that we really didn’t act on. But it was very deep. The respect for one another was very deep. I think that’s what we had. I think he needed that.”
